ERIN RAY
Owner/Color specialist
Erin is the resident Chair Lord and Owner at Obsidian Salon. She’s been in the industry for 10 years and specializes in lived color for both brunettes and blondes.
Erin loves connecting with her clients, building a positive rapport with them, resulting in giving them their dream hair! Three years ago, Erin chose to be her own boss in the hair industry and never looked back. She loves that she has the freedom to work with her dream clients when and how she likes.
Obsidian became a place that Erin wishes was available to her when she went off on her own - a safe space for growth and mentorship.
When she’s not at the salon, she's with her husband, kids, and dogs traveling and exploring nature. When they can, they love to venture off to local breweries trying the latest brews.

TORY SUGDEN
Stylist/Colorist
Tory joined Obsidian from the very beginning. She has been in the industry for 7 years. Color is her strength and she loves to experiment and combine new color/cut techniques to create the best look for each of her clients. Tory prides herself on being relatable and genuine providing her clients with an open and authentic experience. She loves being her own boss with the opportunity to make a name for herself and grow as a stylist alongside Erin. When she’s not at Obsidian, she’s traveling and experiencing new places or cuddled on her couch watching true crime documentaries.

LAUREN HERNANDEZ
Stylist/Colorist
Lauren joined Obsidian in November 2021 with over 10 years of industry experience. She received her certification from Capri Cosmetology in Nanuet, NY. Lauren’s speciality and what she loves to do is color corrections, highlights, and hair extensions.
She loves to connect with people, to watch her client’s faces light up after a transformation. Lauren is no stranger to pushing her limits and furthering her education. Currently, she is learning to take killer hair pictures while mastering curling, and new techniques.
Lauren loves the freedom of being her own boss, to make her own schedule with the ability to push or pause herself as needed. Lauren knew from the beginning Obsidian would be her new home, she felt comfortable the moment she walked in. She can already see herself growing so much at Obsidian and wakes up excited to go to work.
When she’s not at the salon, you can find Lauren at home with her son, trying new restaurants, or on a plane traveling the world!

SONG DETRINCA
Stylist/Colorist
Song joined the team in March of 2022 and has a total of 24 years in the industry; 7 years as a hairstylist and 17 years as a make-up artist. She studied and received her certification at Capri Cosmetology in New York.
Song’s strength is enhancing her clients' hair with effortless glamour.
She loves giving her clients cuts and colors that they can style themselves. She has an eye for seeing how dimensional balayage will enhance each cut and style.
Her first love is balayage. Painting the hair is very therapeutic for her and her best work comes through in her meditative state. Song loves cutting a variety of styles from a nice textured bob to a lived-in long layered haircut.
Song loves to connect with her clients. She effortlessly builds trust and rapport with them that allows them to explore what they do next whether it’s a new trend or a complete makeover. Song has styled a few brides’ hair and make-up and loves being a part of such a memorable, special day.
Song has followed Erin Ray for a while and was thrilled when she heard she was opening her own salon. She thought, ”why wouldn’t I want to be part of a creative badass team in CT?! It was time for me to see what else I can do. Get uncomfortable and grow!”
Song’s clients would definitely say she’s a perfectionist when it comes to hair but her personality is laid back and goofy.
When Song is not at Obsidian, you will find her trying a new restaurant or wandering a hiking trail with her daughter. She is very family-oriented and loves exploring all that Connecticut has to offer.

SARAH KUBIKOWSKI
Stylist/Colorist
Sarah is a Paul Mitchell the School graduate with over 10 years of industry experience. She lives for color corrections and blondes but she loves doing any dimensional color.
Sarah’s favorite part of each service is the blow dry and style at the end, this is where she gets to see her creation section by section and correct any imperfections.
She loves being able to help people feel their best and love themselves. She feels that it is truly amazing to see the transformations of not only her clients hair, but their mentality too!
Sarah joined our salon and had this to say about why she has chosen to continue her career with us, “Obsidian is a beautiful salon and the environment and team is beyond desirable. I love the energy and positivity that flows throughout there! I think my clients will absolutely love coming here and spending time in this space.”
She has multiple clients that were sent to her from a retired stylist, each one that sat in her chair said that their previous hairdresser described Sarah by saying, “every time she sees Sarah's face, she just can’t help but smile and feel good.” Sarah’s clients also always say they can always count on a good time and a good laugh during their appointments.
When Sarah is not working behind the chair you can find her home with her boyfriend and cat probably reading a book!
